Western Spirit consisted of one (1) new, single circuit, 155-mile 345kV transmission line, consisted of 707 primarily monopole and H-frame structures. The new transmission line route originated from Pajarito Substation located in Bernalillo County and ends at Clines Corner Switchyard in Santa Fe County. The primary purpose of the Western Spirit Transmission Project is to increase reliability and provide relief to a congested electrical grid. This project will deliver wind energy (800 MW) from Central New Mexico to New Mexico’s electrical grid.
